If you’re thinking about distributing your content with a voice app, there’s a question that you’re probably asking yourself:

“What kind of content can I create for my voice app?”.

This is exactly the topic we will cover today.

You will find out the the steps to be taken to create your content.

Types of content for voice platforms

First of all you need to know that there are two main categories:

1 – short content with immediate response

2 – medium-long content that are used to accompany the user in their daily lives

1 – Short content

Short content respond to a specific user request such as news, headlines or micro guides on how to solve problems.

To give an example, this type of content can be created for a wiki-type voice app where you help the user to receive precise information that answer equally precise questions (eg “Alexa, how do I sign up for Ipervox?”).

But also voice apps that provide news on a specific topic (eg “Alexa, ask the world for news of today”).

2 – Medium-long content

Medium-long content is a real travel companion during the day.

That means a content capable of accompanying the user in his daily life (while cooking, shopping, driving, listening to a podcast).

With the medium-long content we have the attention of the user diluted over time.

These contents can be as long as twenty minutes, an hour, or more, depending on the time and place where they are consumed.

In this case you have the opportunity to strengthen the relationship between the user who listens to you and your brand.

Above all you can repeat a concept several times, an important message that you want to convey to the user within the same content.

In fact, in a short content you have the user’s attention because the message is short and concentrated

The medium-long one is diluted over time and this means that you can use it as an opportunity to repeat your message several times.

You can, for example, start discussions, storytelling by telling your story, and all this to better entertain your audience while creating a lasting relationship with them.

My advice on this kind of content, especially when there is a certain seriality, is to complete it with an anticipation of what will come in the next episode.

A kind of cliffhanger effect that is used a lot in TV series.

What kind of format and content you can achieve with Ipervox

Now let’s see what types of format and content you can achieve with Ipervox and how you can create your voice apps to be published and consumed on Alexa.

With Ipervox you can create two types of content:

1 – textual content that will be read by Alexa

2 – audio content by directly uploading what you have recorded for your podcast or that you have extracted from a video, or you can create an original audio, exclusively for your voice app (a solution that I recommend).

1 – Text content

The content in text format will be read by Alexa’s voice, and the best thing to do in this case is to make short content.

Why?

Because although Alexa’s voice is well developed it cannot be compared to the value and warmth of a human voice .

Alexa has been programmed to express itself naturally and model the text using markups which, for example, are similar to the bold and italics of written texts.

These markup in technical jargon are called SSML (Speech Synthesis Markup Language) and we will talk more about it in another article.

These SSML markups allow Alexa to express one sentence with greater incision or to whisper another, but nevertheless it cannot be compared to a human voice.

2 – Audio content

Using audio content instead allows us to offer even longer content.

Now let’s see the three types of content that you can create for your voice app.

First of all, it must be said that these types of content that I’m going to list are classics and are not exclusive of voice app, but they also work well in this case.

First of all, it must be said that the types of content that we are about to list are now a standard and work very well in this case too.

The types of content that work the most and that the public appreciates are:

  1. Inspirational
  2. Educational
  3. Fun

1 – Inspirational content

The inspirational contents are functional to tell your story and engage the user with your scale of values, but also to tell case studies to bring the user closer to your service, product or brand.

These contents are very useful in the initial phase, when the user discovers you, because they are precisely the presentation useful to establish the relationship you will have with your audience.

2 – Educational content

The educational contents, that is a guide content where you give detailed instructions on a topic, can be produced in both short and medium-long format.

The educational contents can be read by Alexa or made by you in audio format.

3 – Fun content

And finally we have fun content which is a type of content that the user loves to consume and therefore is a pastime content, undemanding.

You can create this kind of content to tell anecdotes, funny stories. For example, you can create a real voice app for jokes.

And that’s it for today.

I hope that with this article I have managed to give you an overview of the types and formats of content to be created for your voice app with Ipervox.

You must always remember that when you create content, the goal is always to offer value to your audience, the format and type is up to us, with Ipervox we want to help you in this.
